House Systems
The school operates a four house system for inter-school sporting competitions. The houses are named after Australian native plants. House Colours are:
Wattle – Yellow, Banksia– Red, Melaleuca – Green and Waratah – Blue
All children are allocated to a House on enrolment with a view to keeping families in the same House whilst endeavouring to maintain boy/girl age group balance.
SPORTS COMPETITIONS
Students in years 5 and 6 participate in interschool carnival days on the 4th and 8th Fridays in Terms 2 and 3. Students train in various sports and then participate in whole-day carnivals, competing against a number of local schools.
Swimming
Swimming for students occurs in Term 1 or Term 4. The YMCA in Link Rd is the venue for our swimming lessons. Students are required to walk to and from lessons.
Track and Field
Prep Year - Year 3 compete in a track and field carnival using a Mini-Olympics format to develop skills in a variety of areas.
Years 4 – 6 compete in a formal Track and Field Events Carnival as a member of their sports house. From these competitions, children have an opportunity to be selected in the school team for District competitions.
Cross Country
All children are encouraged to take part in the Cross Country, to develop fitness. Years 1 - 4 compete in a Fun Run in the school grounds; Years 5 - 6 run through the neighbouring area, under teacher supervision. Children have the opportunity to be selected to compete in the school team for the District Cross Country.
